Hi, I’m Barnali Roy Taketani.
Before founding TallGiraffe Preschool & Daycare, I spent over 15 years in the corporate world, leading teams, solving business challenges, and managing people. While I enjoyed my career, becoming a mother completely changed my perspective on life. It made me realize how deeply the early years shape a child’s confidence, curiosity, emotional well-being, and love for learning.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, a close friend and I began caring for dozens of young children. What started as a way to help my own son socialize soon became one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Spending every day with children taught me that they learn best through love, freedom, play, observation, and meaningful experiences—not through pressure or comparison.
When my son started school, I chose to work in a Montessori preschool for two years. Those years gave me invaluable hands-on experience with Montessori education and helped me understand the importance of respecting every child’s individual pace of development. I witnessed how children naturally develop independence, concentration, confidence, and problem-solving skills when they are given thoughtfully prepared materials and the freedom to explore without unnecessary restrictions.
These experiences inspired me to establish TallGiraffe Preschool & Daycare—a place where children can enjoy learning while developing practical life skills, sensorial awareness, language, mathematics, creativity, kindness, and confidence. Our environment encourages children to become independent thinkers who genuinely enjoy discovering the world around them.
My educational approach combines the Montessori Method with the philosophy of J. Krishnamurti, who believed that true education is not about control or competition but about freedom, awareness, observation, and helping every child discover their own potential. At TallGiraffe, we believe children flourish when they feel safe, respected, and free to learn with joy and curiosity.
Today, my mission is simple—to create a warm, nurturing environment where children feel loved, respected, and inspired to grow into confident, kind, independent learners, while supporting parents as trusted partners throughout their child’s early learning journey.
Why the name “TallGiraffe”?
The giraffe is one of nature’s gentlest animals. With its long neck, it sees the world from a wider perspective while remaining calm, patient, and protective of its young.
To me, TallGiraffe represents looking beyond today’s small milestones and focusing on the whole child. It reminds us to nurture not only academic skills but also character, confidence, curiosity, emotional well-being, and independence.
Just as a giraffe gently guides and protects its young, TallGiraffe is a place where every child is encouraged to stand tall with confidence, discover their own potential, and grow at their own pace with love, respect, and joy.
TallGiraffe is more than a preschool. It is my dream, my purpose, and my promise to every child and every family who becomes part of our journey.
